Bill Hutchison talks about the International YWAMer Story Contest, Upcoming One Voice Global Worship time, YWAM 50th Celebration in Mongolia, Haiti, Ireland, the YWAM Ship Tour in Australia and some prayer requests from our YWAM staff in Thailand.

  • International YWAMer Story Contest
    • It’s time to tell your YWAM story.
    • The International YWAMer, the electronic magazine for Youth With A Mission, is running a story writing contest.
    • There are three groups for entry : under 15, 15 – 30 and over 30.
    • The story should be more than 200 words, but less than 800 words and can be written in any language.
    • The story should relate to your time and experience in YWAM and needs to be submitted by July 1.
    • The winners will win a gift certificate for an online book store, or a donation can be made to a YWAM Ministry of their choice.

  • Guide to writing Newsletters for YWAM
      • Brent Manke has been working with Youth With A Mission since 2002 and has written an ebook about his experience and thoughts on writing newsletters and has released it for free on his blog.

Newslettering: Creating Effective Newsletters With Love

  • Lynn Green’s live video address
    • Last week Lynn Green shared live to many different people from around the world in a live video stream. When I tuned live there were about 50 on-line viewers, plus quite a few YWAM locations connected directly using video conferencing.
    • You can watch his entire address in the show notes on this web-site. The video includes an update from Shirley Brownhill about the Megacities ministry happening in Mexico City right now and Lynn starts his update at about the 38:00 mark:

  • GENESIS One Voice
    • The Next YWAM GENESIS One-Voice worship will be on June 4.
    • One Voice is a time for YWAM Centres from around the world to get together to share a time of worship and prayer together. They do this using video conferencing technology and regularly include over a dozen locations from around the globe. They also stream the video live on the Internet.

  • YWAM SCAM School
    • SCAM – School of Cartooning and Animation for Missions will be running from 5 July – 17 December 2010 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
    • Three month lecture phase followed by a three month field assignment where the students will develop evangelistic cartoon and animation materials for a people group in their environment.

  • Non-Profit Architecture Firm 100 Fold Studio Partners with YWAM Montana
    • A non-profit architectural firm called 100 Fold Studio is moving onto the YWAM Montana campus with a plan to partner with YWAM in many different projects around the world.
    • Some of the projects that they are working on are:
      • Prototype soccer fields and health clinics in Togoville, Africa
      • Pre-fabricated orphanages and community building in Haiti and the Dominican Republic
      • The YWAM Montana campus master plan
      • YWAM Nepal DTS Centre and Dorms
  • YWAM 50th Celebration in Mongolia
    • From April 17 – 19 Loren and Darlene Cunningham visited Mongolia to celebrate YWAM’s 50th anniversary. They had a very special time together that included a celebration of Mongolian culture and plenty of time for discussion and prayer.
    • The first YWAM base was started in Erdenet, Mongolia in 1998. Today there are now five YWAM Bases and over 80 YWAM staff. The offer the DTS, school of the Bible, Crossroads DTS, Frontier Missions, church planting, mercy ministries, kindergarten programs and sending missionaries abroad.

  • Brad Owens – Send Your Presence
    • Feature song was “Send Your Presence”, by Brad Owens
    • Elevated Music, a ministry of YWAM Kona, has recently released a new compilation album that you can find over on their web-site, elevatedmusic.com. The album includes five different songs and it has been a four year journey to get it released.

    • Ministry continues in Haiti with teams from around the world joining with the local staff in YWAM Haiti.

  • YWAM Ireland Centre Update
  • YWAM Ship Pacific Link Stops in Eden, Australia
    • The ship’s crew continues to collect glasses to help the 550,000 people in Papua New Guinea who could have their sight restored by receiving corrective lenses.
    • The average life expectancy in remote areas of Papua New Guinea is only 46, and even simple things like a $3 maternity kit can help to decrease the fatality rate of mother’s and babies during birth.
    • The YWAM Ship is continuing to look for volunteers to help with the running of the ship and in health care areas for their continuing tour in Australia, and their upcoming trip to PNG.

  • YWAM Thailand
    • With all of the political strife currently happening in Thailand the YWAM Staff there are asking for prayer for the nation. There is a lot of healing that will need to happen, and they are still needing to see and end to the violence and for a return to peace.
