Pray for Afghanistan
I’m sure that you have seen or heard about all that is happening in Afghanistan with the nation once again being controlled by the Taliban.
We want to ask that you all stand with and pray protection and hope over the Afghan people at this time. In addition to the Afghan people there are also many foreign workers and missionaries who also still need God’s protection and help.
YWAM Kona is looking at ways that they can help Christian believers in Afghanistan …

Our locations in Haiti have been doing regular updates, and the first one we have is from YWAM Les Cayes …
YWAM Saint Marc has also provided us with a live Facebook video about what it happening in the nation …

Crisis in Mozambique
In December last year Pope Virgilio and his family reached Pemba with a group of 35 – 40 people after an arduous journey of about 2-weeks through the forest in the province of Cabo Delgado in North East Mozambique. They joined thousands of others who have been displaced and forced to move to safe places in North East Mozambique.
Mozambique has been involved in an insurgency by Islamic extremists since 2017. The Islamic-state linked insurgents killed at least 3,200 people and displaced another 800,000 at the end of last year. Many of those who were displace fled to the city of Pemba.
Currently there are no international aid organisations operating in Pemba, and some missions organisations have already left for their own safety. YWAM has a small team in Pemba doing what they can to help in terms of food / water / soap / mask distribution, as well as building shelters for the refugees fleeing into Pemba.
In addition to the mercy work that the YWAM team has been engaged in they have also been leading groups in fellowship and Bible studies. They have been using audio Bibles that have been produced in the local language as most of the refugees are illiterate. One of the groups that they have been working with is Pope Virgilio and his family. Since they started working with Pope Virgilio he has joined a church and has been baptized.
The team is asking that you Please pray for the people in Pemba/Cabo Delgado. Please pray for the safety of the YWAM team and their children, and wisdom for them in this desperate situation.
The team have been caring for around 2000 refugees with food and essential supplies, and have started building simple homes/shelters for some of them. It costs $2 per day per person to provide food/essential supplies, and $2000 to build a simple house (photo right below), which can house 15 people, who otherwise sleep on the street.
YWAM England is working with the team and if you want to help you can give via the YWAM England website at https://www.ywamengland.org/donations. designate “For YWAM Pemba”. When you do email Jon Armstrong to let him know and he will make sure 100% of anything you give reaches the relief work in Pemba.

YWAM Mercy Vietnam Covid Support
YWAM Mercy have been working in multiple communities in Vietnam to support the people through the latest wave of Covid-19. They have been doing a lot of work with the local communities, helping to build the relationships in the communities where they work. Through these relationships the have been able to continue to monitor and support the communities, even when they have had to do so remotely.
Local people are helping each other to get through the pandemic restrictions, banding together to fight the virus. Some are making food for those isolating in central locations and others are preparing masks and face shields or donating needed food items and supplies. The communication training YWAM Mercy provided to local leaders helped them know how to call for the community to contribute in these ways.
You can get the latest updates from the YWAM Mercy Vietnam web-site at ywammercyvietnam.org.
Values Matter – Darlene Cunningham
The latest book published by YWAM Publishing is Values Matter by Darlene Cunningham.
