A few years ago the idea of a course teaching people in YWAM how to Podcast was discussed. A podcast is a fantastic way to both promote your ministry, and to be a ministry in itself. A podcast can benefit your location by:
- Connecting with people in your local community
- Communicating to your supporters and past staff and students
- Letting people know what ministry opportunities you offer
You can do so many things with a podcast, including:
- Reach a global audience
- Make the teaching from your location available
- Tell the stories of your ministry, staff, and students
- Raise support and prayer for your location
- more …
The first YWAM Podcasting in Missions course will be running online in a group teaching format for 12-weeks starting on September 24 until December 14. At the end of those 12-weeks you should have successfully launched a podcast.
I have been in discussions with Dave Jackson, who runs the School of Podcasting, about how we can work together to train people in YWAM to podcast. Dave Jackson has been podcasting since April 2005, is a member of the Podcaster Hall of Fame, and has a wealth of information that he has built up into a fantastic training program that there is no way I could match in quality or in expertise…
The School of Podcasting is a paid membership site, and Dave has agreed to give us a special discount just for YWAM. Normally three months on the site costs $147.00, but he has given us a 20% discount, so we will only have to pay $117.60 for the three month.
The idea is that we will all register as a group and work through the different courses / topics together for three-months to produce and launch a podcast for your YWAM location. In addition to Dave’s content, we will also meet online as a group to encourage one another, discuss our progress, work through our challenges, and help each other out. I’m also working to get other input from some of our YWAM elders and leaders about communication and missions.
Some of the topics that will be covered in the Dave Jackson’s teaching will be:
- Planning your Podcast
- Developing quality and engaging content
- Choosing the right equipment and software
- Building a web-site for your podcast
- Publishing your Podcast
- Engaging with your audience
