YWAM Lesvos Summer Program
This summer YWAM Lesvos is pulling together a team from around the world to come together to a Greek island to join a faith community where you will serve in the midst of the refugee crisis. In addition to serving refugees fleeing war from the Middle East you will work with local Greeks, bless the island with tourism, and see what YWAM Lesvos is like.
You can discover more of God as you pray together, eat together, serve the people in need together, grow together, pursuing a common goal of living for Jesus.
YWAM Lesvos does a lot of work with refugees on the island. We talked about some of their work in episodes 96 and episode 106, which can be found at ywampodcast.com/96 and ywampodcast.com/106.

YWAMer assists in recovery from Brazil’s Deadliest Environmental Disaster
Earlier this year Brazil experienced their deadliest environmental disaster when a dam near an iron ore mine in Brumadinho burst it’s barrier, flooding another dam below that one. Churches have been actively working in the area, comforting hundreds of families in grief, and working with public agents who are offering humanitarian relief to the people in the region.
This incident is the deadliest mining disaster in the country, with around 300 people feared dead. The dam was inactive at the time, but was being used to hold back a sludge byproduct from iron ore mining.
The sludge from the dam cut through the dam’s complex, nearby farms, and the neighbourhood where many of the workers lived. It destroyed houses and vehicles in the area.
A YWAMer, Juliana Silveira, traveled from São Paulo to Brumadinho to help with the recovery in any what that she could. Since being there she has been able to help sort and screen donations, pray and emotionally support the people in the area.

YWAM Mobile Health and Youth Service
Youth With A Mission in Perth, Australia has been invited to provide a health and youth service truck to reach “off road” communities in “The Kimberley”. The Kimberley is a region that covers almost half a million square kilometres and has many remote and isolated communities. These communities live with very little access to health facilities and are confined by rough roads.
The YWAM Service Truck will have an important emphasis of health education and the youth. Consistency of care, which is hoped to be provided through the service, provides strength to families and encourages a healthy lifestyle.
The 4×4 truck will work towards:
- Mobile access to rural and remote communities
- Partnering with existing health services
- Provide health education
- Coming alongside the youth with sports and celebration
- Mobilizing professionals to help in these communities
Aboriginal health in Australia has not improved over the last 20-years and North West Australia has one of the highest rates of suicide in the world. We believe that it is God’s desire to bring change and hope in these communities. You can find out more, including how you could involved. at the YWAM Perth web-site, ywamperth.org.au.
Bevin Grinder on the Engaging Missions Podcast
On the last YWAM News Show Podcast Bevin Ginder shared with us about the top 5 missions topics that we should be prioritizing. Bevin was recently interviewed on the Engaging Missions Podcast, episode 256, where he shares about how to be a mobilizer in the World of Missions.
I’ve been listening to the Engaging Missions podcast for quite a few years, and really enjoy their content. They have some in depth interviews with many people involved in missions, and if you are interested in hearing another podcast about missions I would highly recommend that you check it out at engagingmissions.com.
Bless Mongolia Missions Trip
On the Engaging Missions interview with Bevin Ginder he talks a bit about Mongolia and how it’s become one of the highest per capita missions sending nations in the world, with it only needing about 10% of the number of Christians per missionary sent as America. There was something in the founding of the Christian Church in Mongolia that highlighted the importance of bringing the Gospel to the nations …
If you have ever wanted to visit Mongolia, and serve God their, YWAM North Cascades is sending a missions trip to the capital city of Mongolia (Ulaanbaantar) in August of this year. “Bless Mongolia” is a 2-week program focused on Bible distribution and outreach in the capital city.
