YWAM Venezuela Update

I was able to get in touch with some of our staff working in Venezuela and they were able to send me this update for what is happening in their country.

The main issue here right now is a potential civil war if the current regime in power goes more radical into stop all ways for a democratic process. It’s a little weird to explain but we have two presidents right now. One is Nicolas Maduro in power by controlling all ways to force his presidency and the other is Juan Guaido who is the National Assembly Speaker and in our constitution he is the Intern president but with none military support.

The economy is crashing down every day with a inflation of 1.000.000 %. Lack of food and medicines for more than 60% of the population. All this makes more complicated the daily basis of life. YWAM is working among the poor and needy. Our base in Caracas has a feeding program that every week serves around 300 meals. We have also a base in Puerto La Cruz who is helping with kids ministry also on a feeding program. This Spring a new YWAM base will be born in the South Eastern side in Ciudad Bolivar.

All YWAM locations are now providing Biblical training to end Bible poverty and there are DTS programs to start running this March, BBC and BSN as well. (the person I contacted is) part of a coaching circle for YWAM here, also in Dominican Republic at YWAM Villa Mella base. (That person) will be traveling to Dominican Republic next week to make connections for raising support for our feeding programs in Venezuela.

Since I was in touch with them we have seen on the news increased conflict between the different factions in Venezuela, including government forces driving over and open firing on protesters. Let’s please pray for that country and the people there …

YWAM Chaing Mai Community Centre

Youth With A Mission runs the “House Full of Love” Community Cetnre in Chaing Mai, Thailand. The centre is set up as a haven in the middle of a neighbourhood with a high amount of poverty and sexual exploitation. They offer services like homework help, sports coaching, and English club to kids and adults around them and to try to meet the needs of the local community. They help those who are vulnerable to be and feel safe, experience love, and to learn about the perfect love of Jesus.

The YWAM Chaing Mai community centre has a vision to fulfill God’s purpose for the lives for sexually exploited individuals, families, and communities. Their mission is to “help transform those affected by sexual exploitation, and their communities, through education and holistic healing, so that they can find complete freedom and reach their full potential in Christ.

Find out more about the community centre on their web-site, ywamchaingmai.org. You can find out how you can get involved, including their current staffing and volunteer needs, on that web-site.

Faith and Conflict – Bosnia and Herzegovina

YWAM Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with YWAM Ireland, will be running the third Faith and Conflict experience starting on Thursday May,23 in Mostar.

Starting in the beautiful, but divided city of Mostar, we will spend two days finding out what it is like to live in a city where, as they locals describe it, “the war has never ended”, 25 years after peace was signed. We also plan to take part in the GLOBAL OUTREACH DAY with an event with the local churches.

We then move on to Sarajevo, a city rebuilt, but which still has the scars of the siege which took place here in the 1990s. We will experience some of what it was like to live here during that time, but also explore more of how “faith” caused the conflict and what we can learn from their experience in our own journeys of faith and forgiveness.

Besides listening to “local voices”, we will also hear from Jonny Clark and others from YWAM Ireland who have worked for many years in the area of reconciliation in that country.

You can have a look at their Facebook Page (linked in the shownotes) to find out more about the event.

Training

YWAM Montana – Outdoor Ministry Course

YWAM Montana offers a very exciting outdoor ministry course …

They run the course every year and the next course will be starting up in January next year.

Find out more on their web-site, ywammontana.org.

Relational Fundraising Course

Everyone in Youth With A Mission is a volunteer, and our financial support comes from people, organisations, and churches who partner with us in ministry through financial sponsorships and fundraising. To be released into missions every YWAMer needs a financial and prayer team behind them, and there are resources made available to assist in that.

Terry Sherman has developed a free, on-line Relational Fundraising course that has been made available to YWAM staff and students on the YWAM eLearning platform. The course is designed to equip YWAMers to build a team of ministry partners who will financially support them in ministry.

The Online course is designed around 4-modules

  1. Introduction – Talking about the vital need for this sort of training, share some of Terry’s own experiences from her early years, explain why fundraising is done in a relational way in YWAM, and set the stage for changing people’s mindset about raising support.
  2. The Biblical View of Fundraising – Money is a controversial topic. How we were raising in our families and cultures mostly determines how we think about money. The Bible talks more about money than almost any other subject, but most of us haven’t learned God’s perspective on it. It’s essential that we learn His ways regarding money, and to understand the spiritual dynamics that come into play when we step out to invite partnership for Kingdom purposes.
  3. Essential Tools to Communicate Vision – Vision leads the way in fundraising! Communicating vision well is essential to inviting people to partner with us. Students will explore different tools to help them better communicate their vision for mission.
  4. Create your Personal Fundraising Plan – This final module shows students how they can create their own plan and strategy for raising their FULL amount of support that they need to do ministry.

You can sign up for free to this do-it-yourself, at your own pace course, at the YWAM eLearning web-site at ywamelearning.com.

Next Time

On the next episode of the the YWAM News Show Podcast we will share about Go 2020 and about the YWAM Mobile Health and Youth Service run into outback Australia …

It is beautiful being whisper. I always follow your live workshop and services conducted.
Is there any membership form that will ensure that you are a full member of YWAM?

I’m a citizen of Liberia, and I wish to be a member of the YWAM.
Please acknowledge me if there is a possibility of being.
