YWAM Overland Adventures

Last year a YWAM team travelled through South Central Africa ministering at more than 15 different locations where they would lead worship, pray through the different challenges that the locations were experiencing, and help to coach, debrief, and train the local staff.

The team also brought with them a film crew that were focused on giving a voice to the locations that many of us have not heard about.

YWAM Ships Switzerland – Transforming a Navy Ship to a Medical Vessel

YWAM Switzerland purchased an ex-navy supply ship in December 2021 and has been working converting the ship to a medical vessel to serve eventually in Madagascar to serve the medical needs of that nation. The plans for conversion already exist, as three similar-type vessels have already been converted by Vine Trust in Scotland and are currently deployed in the Amazon and Africa. The converted holds will house the dental and ophthalmic suits, plus a GP and pharmacy facility.

Over on the show notes for this news show at ywampodcast.com/130 you can see the full tour of the ship, including how the conversion is going, and what the next plans are in the process. At ywamships.ch you can also find out more about the ship conversion and planned ministry, and also see how you might be able to get involved.

YWAM Philadelphia Prayer Station

The idea of YWAM running prayer stations started in 1992 as a New Year’s Eve Outreach in New York, and has since continued to be a global phenomenon, with many thousands of churches, teams, and individuals using them. The YWAM teams felt that God gave them the strategy for creating and setting up a Prayer Station to invite people to stop and receive prayer for their felt needs. The prayer station proved to be one of the most effective, powerful, and disarming street evangelism methods that they have ever tried.

YWAM Philadelphia is continuing the prayer station ministry every week …

You can check out the YWAM Philadelphia web-site for more stories from there time, and to find out when the next Prayer Station training will be happening at ywamphiladelphia.org.

Praying Against Teen Suicide

This month for The Invitation, one of YWAM’s global prayer initiatives, we Prayed Against Teen Suicide.

From 2020 to 2021 suicide rates among young people in England rose by 35%. Similar increases have been seen among many nations around the world.

This month’s prayer initiative focused on praying against teen suicide, and had three main focuses for prayer:

  1. Pray against the rise of bullying, both in person and online
  2. Pray for discernment for parents, teachers, school counselors, and youth group leaders
  3. Pray for resources and programs to be created that will assist families in addressing the issues of identity and self worth for vulnerable teens.

Every month we join together in prayer, and are always wanting to hear feedback about how God led you during prayer. You can send us your feedback on the web-site, The Invitation.

YWAM Sunshine Coast vs Christian Surfers …

On a lighter note, YWAM Sunshine Coast had a competition against Christian Surfers …

Unfortunately YWAM Sunshine Coast lost this round, but as it seems to be a regular competition, we hope them better luck next time.
