Rice Shortage in Mae La Camp, Thailand

Since 2014 Australian Mercy, a part of Youth With A Mission, has been committed to assisting with the Mae La refugee camp on the Thailand/Burma border. The refugee camp currently houses about 50,000 Burmese refugees and is the largest refugee camp for the Burmese refugees in Thailand and is the home to a very large Karen population.

Recently is was reported that the situation with rice in Mae-la is getting worse. They urgently need to raise funds for their nutritional supplements program in Mae-la camp. The refugees in Thailand do not feel safe to return to Burma, and for good reason. There is not a day where we do not hear about dangers from the Burmese military, land confiscations or landmines. As time progresses, food distributions in the camps continue to be reduced.

To provide rice and tinned fish supplements for the rest of the year Australian Mercy needs to raise another $15,000, and if they want to extend the program to others, they need to raise much more.

Find out how you can help to provide nutrition to the Mae La Refugee camp with Australian Mercy at australianmercy.org.

In June YWAM Ireland undertook a 19-day pilgrimage to pray for the Irish island. During the trek they prayed for its past, present, and future, and for them to be Jesus’ hands and feet wherever they went.

During the hike they did an interview with Spirit Radio, and you can hear a part of that interview now …

You can listen to the entire interview, with some other great stories about the trek, over at the Spirit Radio web-site, spiritradio.ie. They start talking about the BorderWalk at about the 23-minute point of the interview.

Training

YWAM Perth – Medical Missions School (MMS)

In January YWAM Perth will be starting up their next Medical Missions School, MMS.

Medical Missions School

The Medical Missions School is a six month course that consists of a 12-week lecture phase followed by a 12-week outreach phase.

During the lecture phase some of the topics to be covered are:

  • Healing the Whole Person
  • Basic Dentistry
  • Being Led by the holy spirit.

Then during the outreach phase student will be able to take what they have learned in the classrooms to the clinics, homes, and streets of the world. They get to do that through mobile clinics, learning God’s ways in medicine, meeting unmet needs, and more.

Find out more on the YWAM Perth web-site, ywamperth.org.au.

Children at Risk School – YWAM Geneva

Children around the world today face unimaginable situations. Children are exposed to war, sexual violence, AIDS, they are orphans, live on the streets, they can be refugees or displaced because of war or natural disasters. Many of them are at risk.

During the three months of training for the Children at Risk School at YWAM Geneva you will learn how to:

  • Seek justice for these children
  • Learn how to encourage the oppressed
  • Find out what it means to defend the cause of the fatherless and to plead the case of the widow

After three months of classroom training you will have the opportunity to do an optional 6-month internship with YWAM or another Christian organisation that works with children at risk. Some of the destinations that you could have the opportunity to work in are Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Uganda, Madagascar, South Africa, Romania, and more…

If you have a heart for children at risk, and want to find out more about this school, then check out the YWAM Geneva web-site at ywamgeneva.com to find out more.

Foundations for Counselling Ministry (FCM)

YWAM Centro, Mexico City is running their next Foundations for Counselling Ministry course in January.

The YWAM Foundations for Counselling Ministry will expose students to the Biblical processes of healing and restoration of the spirit and soul. The course is designed to be a time of deep personal growth and give foundational preparation for future ministry with people.

Many past students of the FCM in YWAM have testified to the life-changing experiences during the school as they met God in deeper ways, and then took that training to where it was needed most.

Find out more about the YWAM Centro Foundations for Counselling Ministry course on their web-site, ywamcmc.org.

YWAMers Podcast

I recently found a new podcast that was launched earlier this year called the “YWAMERS Podcast”. I’ve had listen to all the current episodes and think that if you like this podcast, want to learn about how people have engaged in different spheres of influence after being in Youth With A Missions, that you would like the YWAMERS Podcast as well.

Jordan & Keltie interview YWAMERS in the different spheres of society on each episode. You get to hear their stories, and learn about the challenges they faced and are facing and how they have learned to be a missionary in their Sphere of Influence.

Check out their web-site, ywamers.community, to find out more, and have a listen.
