Stories:
Praying for Haiti
This month the prayer focus for The Invitation, one of YWAM’s global prayer initiatives has been the nation of Haiti.
Haiti is the poorest nation on the American continent and is currently suffering through a time of tremendous governmental instability and crime. More than 67% of the population lives on less than one dollar per day, and only 56% of the population is schooled.
The focus for our prayer for Haiti has been:
- Pray for provision of basic needs for life
- Pray for government, leaders, and safety
- Pray for rain
- Pray for spiritual breakthrough
- Pray for the Bible to be taught accurately in churches
- Pray for ministries and YWAM
In the midst of the challenges in Haiti, YWAM and other ministries continue to meet practical needs, as well as to teach Biblical principles.
Since we spent last month praying for Haiti, I thought that we could get some updates about what some of our ministries are doing in in Haiti.

YWAM Saint Marc, Haiti
From their Facebook page we get this update from YWAM Saint Marc …
Our trade school is coming up on its last month! We are so thankful for the opportunity to run this school and we believe this is only the beginning. The students are learning so much and we can see the hope that it is bringing to peoples lives. The trade school takes a lot of funds to keep it running as continuous supplies need to be purchased for most classes. Things like food for the cooking class, gas for the backhoe loader and auto mechanics, supplies for plumbing, electrician, cosmetology, makeup etc. If you would like to partner with us and give towards the trade school we would appreciate it so much. Thank you for your continued support- this has been an incredible thing to watch unfold!

YWAM Cap-Haiti
YWAM Cap Haiti graduated their 2023 Impact DTS this month:
We had an amazing school starting with 21 students and 10 staff. As we celebrate and honor each one of them for this amazing accomplishment, we look to Jesus to thank Him because once again – He did it!
We see a group of young adults coming from all over Haiti, trusting that the Lord will meet them and transform their lives in 5 months. It requires a lot of courage and determination to surrender everything and trust Jesus to reshape your life. We are so proud of these young men and women and to see who they have now become is absolutely beautiful! We also are very proud of our staff here at YWAM Cap-Haiti for giving their “all” to lead this program and finish strong.
As we release these young people back to their communities, we have no doubt that the Lord will use them as a reflection of Jesus to bring transformation and impact to wherever they set their feet!

Light Up Hobart
From the 7th to the 23rd of June YWAM Hobart has been organising and running Light Up Hobart, in partnership with RiverCity Church, Australian House of Prayer for All Nations and Youth For Christ.
The outreach coincides with Dark Mofo, with the purpose of lifting up Jesus in the city of Hobart and engaging with people attending Dark Mofo. They came together for worship and prayer every night, had several days of continuous prayer and worship, and were out on the streets of the city every night.
One of the highlights during the outreach is the giving out of free pancakes and hot chocolate each night outside of St David’s Cathedral. During the outreach they have seen over 30 people give their lives over to the Lord, and many more seeds have been sown through many different conversations.
You can read their latest newsletter, which includes many stories from Light Up Hobart, in YWAM Hobart’s latest newsletter, which is linked in the show notes. (source)
