Stories:

Compassion Ministry Opportunity Mali

Last month I was contacted by someone working in Mali, in West Africa, about a ministry opportunity there.

Mali is a large nation in West Africa, with a population of almost 20 million, and a Christian representation of less than 1%. There has been decades of unrest in the nation, with almost 200,000 Malians currently displaced. (source)

YWAM has a team that is currently working in Mali, with a focus on the refugees and the prisons. Here is a message I received from Simione, one of YWAM’s workers there:

I’m working with Compassion Ministry here in Mali. Focus in the prison (we visit the Prison every Friday morning), To the Refugee Camp (that was after the prison go straight to the Refugee), I’m joining Team Xtreme as well (focus on schools and university). Their might be repaint program at the prison. This what we normally do every year and do some design work at the prison. At the refugee, we have some families are Christian living there. We might need to rebuild their houses.

Simione is originally from Fiji, but living in Bamako, Mali with his wife Rachel. If you want to find out more about their ministry, including how you could involved, they can be contacted on their Facebook page.

YWAM Windhoek Partner with YWAM Lüderitz

Last month we talked a bit about YWAM Windhoek. One of the ministries that they engage in is partnering with other YWAM locations near them…

As part of reaching out to local YWAM bases and ministries, a group of staff went on outreach to serve alongside YWAM Lüderitz over the weekend. During this time, they had the privilege to share stories with children from the community, host prayer and worship nights, visit a school and also helped with the “Feed A Child” program.

Here’s what the base leader’s wife had to share;

“It has been such a great blessing and experience to have had the YWAM Windhoek outreach team with us. During their time here, we could really see the hand of God in their favour.

Firstly, it takes a lot to pioneer a base just as a family but we have been adamant about what God clearly spoke to us about making Him known in Luderitz. Our vision is to serve the community in our abilities through children’s programs, prison ministry and evangelism. We also want to introduce missions to the young generation, to stir up a fire in their hearts that will assure them that serving God is not boring at all, it’s actually adventurous and exciting.

Secondly, my highlight from this weekend has been the prayer nights we hosted at our home, it was such a beautiful time that we could invite our neighbors to join us in uttering a sound of prayer and worship unto the One who created us all. One of the A topics shared was “occupy while waiting” and that reminded me to remain steadfast but rejoice in the season of waiting and watch how the Lord does wonders for us. We are trusting the Lord for more staff and opportunities to expand the vision we have been called for, please pray with us and for us a family too.”

YWAM Lyon Street Show

Throwback to our street show on April 20th 🎶

God is good all the time! We had a great afternoon of evangelism, music, fellowshipping, sharing and impact. In our team, no role is less important than the other. That’s why we’re thankful to be able to serve the Lord with the talents and gifts He’s given us. And we’re not denying the results! This is what happens when we come together for His work. Lyon will be for Christ! 🙏🏻

Hope into the Brokenness

Ashley has spent multiple years serving in Papua New Guinea as the Medical Coordinator for YWAM Ships Kona, traveling to remote villages with teams of medical professionals in order to serve the local people. Here is one of her stories about God’s providence in preparing her to treat a local woman who had suffered from a stroke.

YWAM Reno is having a summer camp for kids of incarcerated parents in July! Each child gets a backpack. Camp David Sierra Nevada is an Angel Tree Camp.

YWAM Reno is looking for (US based) volunteers to come help staff our Angel Tree Camp for children of prisoners in Northern Nevada. The camp is called Camp David Sierra Nevada.

YWAM V2 Vanuatu Classroom Build

Last year YWAM V2 in Eratarp, located outside of Port Vila, Vanuatu, built a double classroom for their school. This year they are looking to build an additional double classroom starting in August.

To give you idea about why it’s so important for this school, and it’s resources to be built, we have this video from the V2 Life Ministry.

Helping to built an additional two classrooms is a great chance to make a difference in the lives of the children in Teouma Valley. Head over to v2life.org to find out more about their ministry, and go to volunteerbuild.com for specifics about the classroom build.

New Vision Schools – YWAM Arusha, Tanzania

Another school program that YWAM is engaged in is the New Visions Schools out of YWAM Arusha in Zanzania.

Again, you can find out more at ywamarusha.org.

Mission Building

The Wise Wookie over on YouTube recommended that we take a look at Mission Building in YWAM, as their family had a great experience with it last year in Papua New Guinea. It’s a great idea, as there are a lot of opportunities and stories out there for mission building.

In the next months I’ll start gathering stories, and we can include a section on it in a future episode.

If you have suggestions for future stories, please let me know in the comments on the Youtube video, or at ywampodcast.com/144.

Is That Really You God? in German

Loren Cunningham’s book, Is That Really You God, has inspired thousands, if not millions, of people into ministry and missions. For me it was required reading on my Discipleship Training School, as I’m sure it was for many DTS students.

The book has been translated into 150+ languages, and is described as “a practical guide to hearing God’s voice and following His direction to change our hearts and our world”.

Sven Stuhrmann from YWAM Nuremberg contacted me recently to let me know that they just completed a German Audio Book version of Is That Really You God? Chances are pretty good that if you are listening to this, then you probably also consume other content via audio format.

I have included links to a few different places that you can pickup the German audio version of Is That Really You God in the show notes at ywampodcast.com/144.

Meme of the Month

There were a few good memes put out this month by different YWAM locations, including YWAM Fernace MemeZ, YWAM Memes, and YWAM Kristiansand Memes had some really good ones. The location though that easily look the winning meme though was YWAM Asheville with their eclipse lightning strike meme …

So, if you want to submit your own YWAM Memes for consideration for May’s Meme of the Month, just tag it on Instagram with the hashtag, #ywammemes.
