YWAM Sunset Country in Jamaica

YWAM Sunset Country in Ontario, Canada, recently had a team at YWAM Montego Bay in Jamaica. While they were there they worked to support the local ministry with their local work, and also helping with some of the infrastructure at their centre.

Armour Bearer Ministry was developed to support others in the mission field to better equip them to the calling God has for them. For their ministry trip to Jamaica the brought a team of skilled workers to help with a bunch of much needed electrical upgrades and repairs!

This is a huge blessing for the local ministry, and allows the team to fulfil the calling that God has on them.

You can find out more about YWAM Sunset Country, and their Armour Bearer Ministry on their Facebook Page, facebook.com/YWAMSunsetCountry.

YWAM South Sudan

Despite all the continued unrest in South Sudan, where ongoing conflict, food insecurity, and poor health outcome continue, YWAM continues to operate different ministries in the region.

The YWAM Outreach Centre Magwi continues to serve the people in Eastern Equatoria. They run Sunday services, do local outreach, and run a children’s ministry.

Last year they also started translating the Bible into the local Lokoya language, which is spoken by the Lokoya people in Central Equatoria and Eastern Equatoria in South Sudan. They have translated the book of Ruth into the Lokoya language, and they have the hope and faith that another book will be translated in the future. Many love the translation and they wish the whole bible would be translated, and this could be a complete light to the Lokoya people. (source)

YWAM Yei in South Sudan continue their Discipleship Making Movement (DMM)/ Harvest Multiplication Training, and haves seen some baptism come out of the ministry. They are planning for another training of the couples on trauma healing, since they have come out from war zone, and many are still traumatized.

YWAM Yei is also running a football / soccer ministry in the tri-state boarder area of South Sudan, Uganda, and Eastern Congo. It’s run among the marginalized youths of the three nations. (source)

Island Reach Deployment Delayed

We have been following the overall of the newest YWAM ship the Island Reach since December 2021 when it was first purchased. The ship’s overhall is complete, with the accommodation and medical facilities being complete, as well as all mechanical and electrical updates done.

Unfortunately, with the unrest happening in the Middle East, the costs to deliver the vessel to Madagascar has increased drastically. The ship will now have to piggyback on a much larger ship to go to Durban, South Africa, and then sail to Madagascar from there.

It is estimated that another £200,000 is needed before it can set sail. You can find out more about how to donate and get involved on the YWAM Ships Switzerland web-site, ywamships.ch.

Update!

The information published about the newest YWAM ship is not current information – and it’s not information that a decision by the board of executives for YWAM ships. As a board we are in a prayerful process deciding on transport and delivery of the vessel. This week the Ares Sea route has opened and we are investigating a departure in these next couple months.

Piggy-backing the vessel was something we looked into. But for now this stayed and option and we are trusting the Lord for safe passage this summer.

I know it’s always hard to publish up to date news, and certainly piggy-backing the vessel was something we looked into. But for now this stayed and option and we are trusting the Lord for safe passage this summer.
