Stories:
30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World
The call to mobilize Christians worldwide to set aside 30 days to learn about and to pray for our world’s Muslim neighbours emerged in 1992 among a group of Youth With A Mission leaders. They felt challenged to help the Church to look at Muslims the way God does.
This years 30-Days of Prayer began on April 13 and goes through to May 12 …
You can head over to the 30 Days Prayer Web-Site, 30daysprayer.com to join in with the rest of the 30-days of prayer
St. Vincent’s Volcano, La Soufriere, erupted explosively on April 9th
On April 9th St. Vincent’s Volcano, La Soufriere, erupted explosively and has continued to erupt multiple other times since then. Each eruption has sent ash into the sky as well as small and large stones which have destroyed many homes. They are continuing to expect more eruptions and pyroclastic flows in the coming days and weeks.
The YWAM St. Vincent and Grenadines centre is on the Island of Mayreau and currently not in danger of the volcano, but there are many staff and members from St. Vincent who are assisting with the relief efforts at the local shelters in the safe zones on the main island.
The shelters and volunteers are in desperate need of supplies.
If you head over to the YWAM St. Vincent and the Grenadines Facebook page you can see how you could help, donate, and pray for the people. There have been many people evacuated from the island, but some of the evacuations have been hampered by some of the neighbouring island nations, so prayer about this is vital so that the people can be assisted and our YWAM staff can best serve the victims of the volcano.
Crisis on the US / Mexico Border
YWAM Tyler, Texas has been working for years with the refugees on the Mexico / US boarder. Lately things have really heated up with the refugees, human trafficking, and on ongoing border crisis.
To find out more about what is happening on the border YWAM Tyler took a trip to the border to find out more about the unfolding migrant crisis on the Southern Boarder. While on the trip they learned of some disturbing things about how this could be the largest migration of slaves in history, and how human traffickers and the cartels are profiting on human misery …
There is another 10-minutes on the video that you can watch on the YWAM Tyler web-site, ywamtyler.org, or on the YWAM News Show web-site at ywampodcast.com/124.
YWAM Tyler is continuing to minister to the people on the border and continue to raise money for that project.
All financial gifts toward this project at Youth With A Mission, Tyler, TX, will go directly to provide border crisis relief and are tax-deductible for US tax payers. They feel they must keep volunteers at the border who can be the hands and feet of God’s love to those who are desperate and hurting.

YWAM Arusha
In March 2020, YWAM Arusha starting on a project to build a teacher housing project so that one of our Tanzanian partners could continue to provide quality education – and that’s exactly what they were able to do. The new buildings occupies a total of over 10,000 square feet, provides much needed family housing, kitchen space, and community meeting space for teachers at New Vision School in Enigkaret!

YWAM Vanuatu Ministry
I did part of my Discipleship Training School outreach into Vanuatu. At that time Youth With A Mission didn’t have a permanent location in the island nation, but it partnered with local churches and relationships with other ministries there. YWAM has continued to partner with other ministries in Vanuatu, and has also established a permanent location there.
One of the ministries that YWAM is involved in through Marine Reach in the Family Care Centre:
The familycarecentre.org web-site has much more information about their ministry that you can check out.
Vlife
Vlive is the ministry of Youth With A Mission working in Vanuatu. In addition to partnering with the Family Care Centre they also work on
- Sustainable Technologies and Clean Water training and community projects
- Primary school education
- Frontier Mission training
With the school this year they are looking for volunteers for many different areas including:
- French
- Sports and Games
- Arts and Crafts
- Appropriate Agriculture and Technology
- Home Economics
- Music / Dance / Drama

YWAM Solomons
Last year on the YWAM News Show we shared with you about the biogas project that YWAM Solomons has been working on in their ministry and the training that they are running. They have continued with this ministry and are also working on manual well drilling with PVC hand pumps.
The drilling works by using simple, affordable, and locally available tools to provide the ability to make well boreholes up to 21 metres deep. They also work on teaching the community how to build self-made PVC hand pumps with available materials. This allows the communities to maintain the pumps, and build new pumps when needed.
In relation to the wells and hand pumps the YWAM Centre runs community water technology seminars. Some of the topics covered in the seminar are:
- Water management
- Water catchment
- Water holding and sanitation
- Water purification
- Non-electrical pumping systems
Participants get hands on with building water tanks, sand filters, drilling wells, and building the hand pumps and hydraulic pump systems.

YWAM Medical Ships Constructing Port Moresby Campus
After ten years of operation in Papua New Guinea with medical ships and land-based teams, YWAM Medical Ships Australia & Papua New Guinea (YWAM MS) is delighted to be expanding their work by establishing a training and outreach campus in Port Moresby.
The Port Moresby campus will be established as a satellite campus of the Australian, YWAM Medical Ships Training. Vocational training programs will be offered in a range of areas, including healthcare, hospitality, administration, faith development, and media.
The property for the new training campus is just five kilometres from the Port Moresby city centre and was originally built as a water sports complex for the 2015 South Pacific Games. The site has unfortunately been quite neglected and has needed quite a bit of work to clean up the property and to rebuild.
Renovations are currently underway to re-purpose the site as a vibrant training campus for young people. The first phase of construction includes student accommodation, kitchen, bathrooms, and training facilities. The development will happen in a series of stages, with the eventual dream is to include a medical centre, radio station, a dental semi-trailer for local schools, and an outreach support centre to server YWAM Medical Ship’s work across the nation.
Visit ywamships.org to find out more about the new centre and the medical ship YWAM PNG which is getting ready to deploy to Western Province to reach remote communities in PNG with essential healthcare and training.
YWAM Marine Academy
Another ministry of Youth With A Mission and their ship ministry is the Marine Academy. The Marine Academy is setup to help teams and individuals to “cut through the noise of the maritime industry to get the training and qualifications they need to follow their calling”. They do this through multiple services including:
- Maritime courses and degree programs
- Personal and team coaching
- Training Seminars and Workshops
- Cadetships with a Partnership Fleet
- Developing-World Skills Training and Certification
Visit ywamma.org to find out more.
YWAM Flotilla
YWAM Flotilla has a goal to reach every island until all have heard about Jesus …

By volunteering to help you can help to serve these communities and ensure that no-one is left behind.
