Don’t Be Afraid to Make a Mistake

I thought we could start this episode of the YWAM news show with a message from Kristy Haines of YWAM Derby.

YWAM Derby puts out a weekly devotional that is often quite inspiring and challenging. You can check it out on their YouTube channel, which is linked to over at ywampodcast.com/126.

Miami Condo Collapse Support ministry

Last week a 40-year old condo building collapse, leaving more than 150 people missing in the rubble. While the first responders work to try to rescue and find the residence of the building, the request for prayer and spiritual / emotional support went out.

In coordination with many local churches and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Youth With A Mission brought in a 40-person group to minister, pray, and provide spiritual care for the victims and their families.

Things are not looking good at the moment for the people who were in the building, and there is much despair with the families, and our prayers go out to the people affected and the people there ministering.

You can read more, and follow developments, over at the Christianity Today web-site.

YWAM Paris Connect Campus Update

Last year we shared with you about the YWAM Paris and their ministry in that beautiful city. We also shared about their desire for their own campus.

YWAM Paris Opens New Campus

The team of 12 arrived in Paris in October 2017. During the four years that they have been in the city they have felt God being incredibly faithful. In June YWAM Paris took ownership of the first half of their Paris campus! They feel that God has established them in Paris and that they need to give Him back the glory of this time with thankfulness, and to commit to the use the land for His Kingdom.

You can find out more about their ministry, and they continued plans, on their Facebook page.

YWAM Kona Bringing Education to Isolated Islands

Through the Pacific Access Learning System, we can educate and train, even the most isolated people groups, to be transformational themselves.

Ignite New England

On Saturday June 19 YWAM Boston gathered 250 people from all over New England at the Middlesex Sports Complex in the hockey rink! 25 people got saved , and they prayed and interceded for every New England state, and catalyzed many young people into the mission field.

YWAM Boston has many local and international ministries, and you can find out more on their web-site, ywamboston.org

YWAM Central Europe – Loren and the Sphere’s of Society

Recently on a call with YWAM Central Europe Loren Cunningham shared again about the Spheres of Society …

That was just some of the highlights from the interview. You can actually watch the full interview through the link at ywampodcast.com/126.

YWAM Saint Marc, Haiti Food Distribution

Earlier this month YWAM Saint Marc in Haiti packed over 400 bags of food and filled a Mack truck with items to deliver out to the 5th section! Their students also filled 800 pieces of paper with words of encouragement and Bible verses to give out as well. It has been a tough few years since the major earthquake that ravaged the nation, hurricanes that have hit since the, and rampant corruption from local governments and international NGOs. Throughout this the people in the 5th section have suffered.

Roads in the nation are often blocked, and when roads are blocked it makes delivering food to sell extremely difficult. The team was very thankful for the opportunity to serve this beautiful community.

The best place that I have found to find out more about the YWAM Saint Marc, Haiti ministry is on their Facebook page.

YWAM Derby Take Away Food Ministry

Speaking about food ministry, YWAM Derby does a local food distribution ministry.

You can find out more about the YWAM Derby food ministry on their web-site, ywamderby.org.

Create Thailand – The Gift of Comics

In the summer of 2019, thousands of Mongolians were able to hear the good news through an outreach initiative of YWAM called “Bless Mongolia.” The goal was to put a Mongolian Bible in every household, along with other materials, including a list of Internet links to online resources in the Mongolian language. Create International Taiwan was honoured to participate in this initiative by providing an online comic book, “Prisoner of Hope,” which clearly presents the gospel through the eyes of Queen Sorghaghtani, the daughter-in-law of Genghis Khan.

This powerful comic book was produced by the staff and 14 students of the Frontier Comics Seminar (FCS), led by Jason Kelly, which trains artists to use their skill and talent to reach the unreached by producing indigenous comic books. Create International Taiwan has been producing mostly animated films since it started in 2013 through the School of Cartooning and Animation for Missions (SoCAM), but in 2019 they spun their comics training into that new school, pioneered by Jason. Working directly with Mongol leaders on the field, they were able to craft a powerful story about a convicted prisoner who receives Christ through the stories of the seven commands of Jesus as told by the Nestorian Mongol Queen.

In 2020, a second comic was produced through the FCS for the Hindi speakers of India, which uses the holiday Diwali as a cultural bridge for the good news. Although the project is still in production, an English version of the comic, called “Gift of Light,” has been completed and is available to view online.

You can check out more about this exciting story, and also view the amazingly well done comics / graphic stories, over on the Create Taiwan web-site, createthaiwan.com.

Summer Nightlife Outreach – Europe

Beginning on July 17th, Summer Nightlife Outreach in Europe hope to gather teams of 10-15 participants in 5 outreach locations all across the party scenes in Europe. They will start off with three days of teaching, training and worship both in teams and all together online. During those days, the participants will also have the opportunity to “practice” outreach and then review it with everyone.

In the following 10 days, teams will go into the party scenes of each city and facilitate young people experiencing Jesus’ love, peace and healing power in the middle of the busy and crowded streets. Each outreach team will be lead by an experienced YWAM staff member and together with the participants will work either in evening or morning outreaches. Each team will also have a one day off where they will have the opportunity to explore the city and do team building activities together.

To wrap everything up, there will be one day of debrief in each team and with all of the teams online. Testimonies will be collected and everyone’s experiences evaluated for future year’s improvements.

This year, Summer Nightlife Outreach will focus on the following five locations:

  • Ibiza, Spain
  • Albufeira, Portugal
  • Hvar, Croatia
  • Thessaloniki, Greece
  • Vama Veche, Romania

To each of these five locations they will send a team of 10-15 participants, led by experienced YWAM staff.

You can find out more about the opportunity on their web-site, summernightlifeoutreach.com

Middle East Refugee Ministry Opportunity

There is currently a large need for outreach teams for work in the refugee camps in the Middle East. They are needing:

  • English teachers
  • Computer trainers
    Art/Music therapy
  • Sports (Basketball and Soccer)
    Children activities through crafts etc.

They are able to get teams into the country through their NGO status. They are needing teams as soon as possible to help in their projects.

At the moment they are currently in need specifically for men to go and volunteer with the refugees. They are working in a male dominant culture where men are needed to connect with other men in discipleship. There is an opportunity to reach so many refugees and for a lot of this, men are needed.

You can find out more about the opportunities in the YWAMers Community group over on Facebook.

Floyd McClung is with Jesus

Floyd McClung, who served for 35-years in Youth With A Mission, including an 8-year stint as YWAM’s International Executive Director, passed away on May 29th after 5-years of illness.

Floyd Lee McClung Jr was a global missions leader, author of The Father Heart of God and an international speaker. He had been ill since 2016 and it had left him incapacitated, hospitalised and unable to speak for over five years.

YWAM co-founders Loren and Darlene Cunningham said, “Floyd McClung was a vital foundational leader, serving for many years in YWAM. He pioneered works in Afghanistan, India, Nepal, the Netherlands, California, Colorado and other locations. His life, his teaching, his books, his leadership and his Godly influence deeply impacted YWAM. He has so much lasting fruit – both inside YWAM and among those who came to Jesus through the initiatives he led. Only eternity will reveal the depth and breadth of his legacy.”

Our prayers go out to Floyd’s wife and family.

You can read Floyd’s full obituary on his web-site, floydandsally.com.
